About Giving Your Power Away We talk a lot about empowerment in coaching and what it means. Basically, becoming empowered means making your own choices, and not making choices based on other people's wants. When you empower yourself by making your own choices, you live your life the way you want, not the way your parents, friends, family, spouse, or anybody else wants you to live. Giving your power away means giving your power of choice away to others. Recently, as I was teaching my new class, A Magical Mystical Class: Unlocking Your Psychic Powers, I became aware of yet another area in which people give their power away. The purpose of this class is to teach people how they can connect with their own sources of Higher Wisdom, such as Angels, Spirit Guides, etc. During the class they become empowered as they learn to get their own answers and information with which they can make choices for their own highest and best good. During one of the classes, we had quite a discussion about getting predictions with the tools we were using, such as pendulums and Tarot, as well as predictions from psychics. The bottom line of the discussion is this:
All of us on this planet are all empowered with the freedom of personal choice. What this means in regards to predictions is that what is true today may not be true tomorrow. Someone, somewhere along the chain of events required to make the prediction come true, may make a choice that will change the outcome. As an example, imagine that you are looking for a job and you consult a psychic or do a Tarot reading for yourself to find out if you'll get a particular job or not. The outcome of the reading is that yes, you will get the job within a month. The reality is that between now and a month many things may change. Someone better qualified than you may make a choice to apply for the job. The company may choose to withdraw the job offering. The date of the job closing may be moved up or back. You may choose to accept another job you've found that suits you better. There goes the prediction! The purpose of any oracle is not to give you definite answers about your life and, thus, take your power of choice away from you. The purpose of an oracle is to give you greater information so that you can be empowered to make a better choice, one that is in your highest and best good.
