The
Birthday Back Support
I
can still see the look on my husband's face after he'd opened his
birthday present. The last thing he expected to see as he excitedly
tore through the wrapping and opened the box was a back support
belt.
It
was years ago when we lived in the mountains near Cle Elum, Washington.
We were newbie snowmobilers and each time we went riding, we came
home with aching backs. If the ride was long or particularly bumpy
we were in agony and often could hardly walk.
I
finally went to a chiropractor seeking help for the pain and was
given a back support belt to wear daily. After wearing it on the
next snowmobiling jaunt I discovered that my back didn't hurt afterward.
Naturally,
I wanted to share this wonderful discovery with my husband. Since
his birthday is in the middle of snowmobiling season, I decided
to gift him with this life enhancing back brace. His reaction was
less than joyous. In fact, it was more along the lines of dismay,
perhaps touched with a bit of revulsion.
It
took a bit of encouragement, but he finally decided to try wearing
it on one of our trips over a notoriously mogul-filled trail. That
evening after we'd returned home and he realized he was pain free,
he thanked me profusely for the belt. Each time we rode after that
and he'd take his belt off, he'd look over at me and thank me again.
Shortly
afterward he bought two new back support belts - one for
each of us. These were heavy duty belts designed for rugged sports
such as snowmobiling and cross country motorcycling. We still have
those belts. In fact, he has his with him where he works as a heavy
equipment operator. When he's operating a bulldozer over particularly
rough terrain he wears his back support belt.
This
one small gift has enhanced my husband's life for years and still
continues to do so.
There
are so many things we can give people during this holiday season.
The selection of glitz and glitter is almost overwhelming in the
malls and stores. Electronic gadgets, the toy of the minute, jewelry,
decorative clothing.
This
year I invite you to ask one question as you're making the decision
to buy a gift for someone you care about:
Will
this gift truly enhance the quality of their life?
Before
you go to the carnival of lights and high energy at the mall, spend
a few quiet minutes going through your gift list. What gifts might
you give each of those people that would improve the quality of
their life in some way? Here are a few suggestions:
- a
subscription to a magazine such as Discovery, Scientific American,
National Geographic
- a
year membership in a gym or athletic club
- a
gift certificate for a class at a learning center like DiscoverU
- an
introductory session for an alternative healing modality, such
as Reiki, aromatherapy, and Theta Healing.
With
a little bit of creative thought you'll no doubt find even more
ideas for gifts that will keep on giving long after the wrapping
paper's been recycled.
Love,
Kathy
ps.
Hey! Wait a minute! I've got some more ideas for gifts! Read on
for a few more gift suggestions to improve the quality of life for
the people that you care about.

Special Gifts for the
Special People in Your Life
This
year ensure that the gifts to the ones you love that will long be
enjoyed. Instead of giving stuff that may or may not be appreciated,
or even used, give them something that they'll remember long after
they've forgotten about the ties, video games, fruit cakes, and
other stuff they get. Something that will make their life even better
than it is now with you in it.
Here's
some more suggestions:
- Life
Purpose Coaching Sessions
- What better gift to give than the purpose of one's life? If
someone you love is feeling stuck, bored with their life, resentful,
or just plain gritchy about their life, Life Purpose Coaching
can help them remember what they came here to do - the work of
their destiny - and support them as they step into actually living
their life purpose.
- Coaching
Sessions with the Tarot
- Powers up life coaching! The Tarot, an ancient and time honored
tool of Higher Wisdom, unlocks your inner knowledge. The Tarot
has been used for centuries by people to gain deeper knowledge
about the issues and challenges that were facing them so that
they could make better choices and improve their lives. All coaching
is done in a confidential and supportive environment.
- An
Inner Journey Teleclass - Get them started on the journey
of their life with this 12 week teleclass. It includes the book
and the workbook, which I'll send you along with a gift certificate
so you can gift wrap it all and surprise them with it.
- The
12 Strand DNA Activation - Reported benefits include more
energy, looking and feeling younger, more clear connection to
spiritual guidance, and increased immunity to disease. Now
on CD so it can be used again and again. They can even share
it with their friends.
- Young
Living Essential Oils
- What else can help you heal physically and emotionally and
make you smell really good - all at the same time? These
oils are of the highest quality - 100% therapeutic grade organic
oil - and last a looooooong time. Blends include such wonderful
fragrances as Christmas Spirit, Joy, Gratitude, and Abundance.
There's lots more and they all smell yummy.
