How
I De-stressed My Life in 10 Easy Steps
(and you can, too!)
The
human body cannot live at the level of intensity caused by constant
high adrenaline output. Sooner or later something will give. That's
when blood pressure and cholesterol rise to dangerous limits and
illnesses appear - diseases like fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome,
cancer, and cardiovascular disease.
The
purpose of adrenaline, as you probably already know, is to give
your body a burst of extra go-power so it can have the strength
to deal with a dangerous situation or get out of the way of the
danger. However, adrenaline junkies, such as "Type A personalities",
are living with a continual high adrenaline rush. Until they're
struck down by disabling disease most adrenaline junkies don't recognize
their addiction ... and sometimes not even then do they face it.
Give
your body a break. Your business won't collapse and the world
won't end if you slow down and de-stress your life. But your body
might collapse, or worse... end... if you don't do some de-stressing.
Here
are 10 easy steps that I used to de-stress my life, and you can
too:
1.
Meditate. Just 20 minutes in meditation a day has been
proven to lower blood pressure and heart rate for 24 hours or longer.
2.
Tai Chi and Yoga works for those AAAA type personalities
who just can't sit still for 20 minutes chanting a mantra or who
absolutely, for the life of them, simply cannot empty their mind.
Both of these practices are moving meditations. Not only do you
get the benefit of meditation while doing them, you get a stronger,
more flexible body with better balance. Win/win/win/win.
3.
Stop watching news on TV! It's nothing but a list
of disasters designed to raise your adrenaline output to super high
levels in order to keep you in your adrenaline addiction. Ever notice
that the commercials during news programs are mostly for drugs?
This should be a clue for you that the stress you cause your body
when watching news on TV makes it weak and prone to illness.
Listen.
I quit watching TV news over 20 years ago and don't miss it one
iota. Anything that's important and truly relevant to me and my
life I hear about from TV addicted friends. I'm much happier, healthier,
and a whole lot less stressed than I used to be when I watched news
and engaged in the fear and stress it produced in me.
4.
Support your body with nutrition. Take extra B complex
vitamins to support your nervous system. Don't eat food with monosodium
glutamate in it. MSG is not a "flavor enhancer". It's
a neuro-stimulant. Drink non-caffienated coffee, tea, and if you
must, soft drinks. Avoid diet anything, because it has chemicals
such as aspartame in it - a drug that can cause Multiple Sclerosis
and diabetes symptoms. Use sea salt. Regular salt has aluminum chlorhydrate
(yes, the same chemical associated with Alzheimer's) in it to keep
it from clumping. Then, because that chemical tastes so awful, sugar
is added to the salt to disguise the taste of the chemical.
Oh.
And remember to drink lots of water, which flushes toxins out of
your body.
5.
Get outdoors. Walk. Garden. Bike. Roller skate. You need
pure sunshine so your body can naturally create the vitamin
D complex it needs for healthy immune and emotional systems.
6.
Hang with people whom you enjoy. You can't always select
the people you work with, but you can choose your friends.
Weed out those who are the crazy-makers - drama kings and queens,
whiners, users, complainers, perpetual victims, needy people.
If
you work with clients, this is especially true. Get rid of the clients
who drain your energy and you'll find their vacancies will be filled
with new clients who energize you.
7.
Make your home your sanctuary. Fill it with things you
love to see - artwork, pictures of family and friends (only those
you truly enjoy, please), plants, flowers - whatever gives you joy
and pleasure.
Cater
to all your senses, not just your sight.
Make
your home smell good using healthy, natural aromas - not artificial
chemicals in aerosol sprays, candles, or those little things you
stick in an electrical outlet. Those chemicals can actually make
you and your pets ill. Scroll down to read about this month's Essential
Oil, for an example of a healthy and great-smelling aroma for your
home.
Play
beautiful, relaxing music to soothe and calm you after a hectic
day out in the world.
Cater
to your kinesthetic senses, too. Soak in a tub, have a massage,
put on some comfy, cozy clothes.
8.
Pay attention to your Emotional Guidance System. Your
emotions were given to you to help you navigate safely through life.
Stress is caused by doing anything that makes you feel a lower vibrational
emotion such as resistance, dread, anxiety, fear, anger, overwhelm,
frustration, impatience, boredom, etc., etc., etc., Yes, sometimes
you must do work that makes you feel any of the above. But what
you do outside of work is purely your choice. And if your work is
consistently giving you any or all of the above emotions, there
are solutions to correct those situations*.
9.
Get good quality sleep. Before you go to bed, do something
relaxing. Listen to soothing music or a guided meditation. Take
a nice hot soak in the tub. Enjoy a cup of herbal tea. Read something
inspirational or funny.
Make
sure your bedroom is as dark as can be. No light is best for the
deepest, most restful sleep. If that's not possible, get some eye
shades... and wear them.
If
your environment is noisy, get some earplugs... and wear them. Better
yet, listen to a subliminal or hypnotic CD or download on your mp3
player to help you relax into restful sleep.
If
you experience pain from your bed - sore shoulders, hips, or back
- get a bed that feels good. You can't afford not to. I once suffered
from hip pain so bad that four ibuprofen tablets at night wouldn't
touch it. I bought one of those "sleep number" beds and
the first night my pain was gone. Memory foam pads work well, too,
and are a whole lot less expensive. But whatever the cost of a comfortable
sleeping place, it's worthwhile if it gives you relief and you're
no longer sleep deprived.
10.

Heart
Point Technique
Helps You De-stress Your Life
Heart
Point Technique (HPT) is a spiritual healing modality, working with
light and energy to relinquish and release limiting beliefs, cellular
memories and aberrant patterns from every level of your being.
HPT
works in a gentle and soothing way to permanently shift the past,
so you can be clear and present in this moment... supporting you
in your purpose, passion and heart desires.
HPT
is a simple yet extremely powerful tool that heals at the heart
and soul level as it clears and releases the old stories/memories.
When these memories or patterns are released, your cells and your
being open up to new opportunities and allow more love to flow into
your life and cells.
Use
HPT as part of your daily practice to improve and de-stress from
the daily challenges of life.
Imagine creating your heart's desire by simply using Universal Light
and allowing the new story of your desire to unfold!
Experience
HPT yourself, in the comfort of your home. My gift to
you is a recording of the HPT Teleclass, "Relinquishing Struggle".
As you listen, clear the energies of struggle from your body, mind
and soul. Be gently guided on a magical meditation journey to cancel

Book
o' the Month
Books
have always been an important part of my life. One of my most favorite
jobs was working at a bookstore. I'd gaze around the store in amazement
at all of the wondrous knowledge that was available to me in all
the thousands of books that were gathered together in this one place.
It was like having all of the wisest people in all the world
in all of history right in front of me, ready to share the
best and juiciest parts of their wisdom with me. Picking up a book
and reading it was like walking up to them and saying, "tell
me the best of all that you know". And so they did... each
time I would open their books and read their words.
Because
I love books soooooo much, I want to share with you those that especially
excite me. This month's selection is...
The
Little Prince
by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
I
was introduced to this amazing book over 30 years ago by a friend.
He said it was unusual in that it could be found not only in the
children's section of libraries and bookstores, but in the philosophy
section as well.
The
story begins when the author's plane crashes in the Sahara Desert,
where he encounters an amazing little prince, who asks him to, please,
if you will, draw me a sheep. Little by little, as the days progress,
the author discovers more about the prince and how he came to be
stranded in the desert, too.
In
real life, Saint-Exupery was a pilot who, in 1935, crashed in the
Sahara and wandered for days. Dangerously dehydrated to the point
of hallucinating, he was found and rescued by a Bedouin. I, for
one, shall be eternally grateful to that nomad. Nine years later,
Saint-Exupery wrote The Little Prince, no doubt drawing on his hallucinatory
experiences... or were they?
It's
a beautiful story that not only entertains adults and children alike,
but one that illustrates much about humanity when viewed from someone
not of our world. It would make a wonderful Christmas gift for someone
you love... including yourself if you don't already have it in your
library.

Essential
Oil of the Month
Enjoy
the exquisite aroma of this delightful oil blend this holiday season
and you'll find yourself believing in all kinds of wonderful things...
your highest potential, miracles, world peace, and yes even Santa!
The
delightful fragrance Believe helps to release the unlimited potential
that you already posess, making it possible to more fully experience
health, happines, and vitality. It restores hope... something we
can all use more of right now.
Suggestions
of how to use it:
- Add
2 - 4 drops to hot bathwater, lie back, and enjoy!
- Deeply
inhale the aroma directly from the bottle
- Diffuse
(I use a misting fountain and the whole house smells fresh!)
- Apply
1-2 drops to the heart chakra, on wrists, neck, temples, and forehead
(third eye chakra).
- Add
to massage oil for an incredible experience
- Put
4-8 drops on a cotton ball and locate it over a heating vent
- Share
a few drops with your loved ones
Oils
included in this blend:
- Idaho
Balsam Fir
opens emotional blocks and recharges vital energy. Gives a feeling
of strenght and inner peace. Just smelling this oil reduces cortisol
output in your body by 40%!
- Rosewood
is high in linalool, which has a relaxing, empowering effect.
A very grounding oil.
- Frankincense
is a holy annointing oil in the Middle East. It stimulates the
limbic part of the brain (where your emotional memory is stored),
elevating the mind and spirit and helping to overcome stress and
despair. It's used in European medicine to combat depression.
To
obtain the fullest aromatic benefits of this oil, after
applying it rub the palms of your hands together briskly to warm
the oil on them. Then cup them and place them over your nose. Take
three deep breaths This brings the minute oil particles deep into
your nasal passages, where their energy imprint is picked up by
the Olfactory nerve and taken to the Amygdala gland - the control
center of all your emotions and the release of all hormones.
