You
and I
"I
figured this was just one more hairy episode. Next thing I know
they find his boat drifting in the sea. Looking back, you think,
well..."
"I
felt sorry for the kids. I couldn't do anything. But it's over with
and you have to move on."
Notice
anything out of sync in the above examples of dialog?
Here's
a hint: they start out in first person but suddenly take a left
turn and become second person.
In
case you've forgotten everything you ever were taught in high school
about the structure of the English language, first person is "I"
or "me" and second person is "you".
Proper
English isn't the issue here. Distancing, displacement, and dissociation
are the issues. You see, when you're talking in first person,
you're mentally and emotionally associated with what you're saying.
You experience it first hand. When you talk in second person you
become dissociated and distanced from the subject. It becomes the
someone else's experience.
Most
often this switch occurs when the subject turns from being factual
to being emotional, and especially if the emotions are being brought
from the past to the present.
In
an effort to dissociate from possible uncomfortable feelings, often
people switch into second person so quickly and slickly that no
one - include them - notices. This robs the speaker of their complete
experience and blocks the opportunity for them to gain new insights,
perspectives, awareness, and knowledge about how the issue is affecting
them.
Clarity
of language produces clarity of thought.
Give
yourself the gift of wholly experiencing your life. The next time
you find yourself speaking in second person when you're truly talking
about yourself, stop. Start over again and consciously talk in first
person. You'll be amazed at the difference of your experience.
Love,
Kathy
ps.
Talking in second person when you're actually talking about yourself
can also be very confusing. In the first example above, for
instance, the speaker was looking back and thinking, but by using
second person language it may make the listener think they have
to look back, remember, and think about it. In the second example
the listener may become confused and think it's time for them to
move on.
Astroarchetypes
That's
the name I've come up with for the new coaching tool.
Thanks
to everyone who's participated in this experiment so far. The experiences
have been pretty amazing - new awarenesses, confirmations, and humorous
insights. Although at times the archetypes seemed totally incorrect,
after some discussion they were discovered to be amazingly accurate.
The
experiment's not over yet. There are still some charts to be completed.
Then after a couple of weeks or so after the information settles
and integrates, I'll do a follow-up. The results will be posted
here, so stay tuned!
Essential
Oil of the Month
Immupower
Winter
isn't over yet, and neither is the chance of getting one of the
super bugs that are being passed around.
Immupower
is a powerful anti-microbal, antiviral, antiseptic, and anti-infectious
blend of pure, organic, therapeutic grade essential oils. It's anti-everythingbad!
It strengthens immunity and DNA repair in the cells.
I
use this oil whenever I feel the first symptoms of a virus and it
saved me from all but one of them this winter. Even so, I was less
sick and for a mcuh shorter time than everyone else I talked to
who had the same bug.
Oils
included in this blend are:
-
Hyssop - anti-inflammatory, antiviral, decongestant
- Mountain
Savory - antiviral, antibacterial, immune stimulating
- Cistus
- anti-infectious, antiviral, antibacterial, enhances immunity
- Ravensara
- antiseptic, anti-infectious, antiviral, antifungal
- Frankincense
- stimulates the hypothalamus and pituitary to amplify immunity
- Oregano
- one of the most powerful antimicrobal oils. It has a 99% kill
rate against streptococcus pneumoniae. Antiviral, antibacterial,
antifungal
- Clove
- anti-microbal, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antifungal
- Cumin
- amplifies immunity and DNA repair. Antiseptic, antibacterial,
and anti-inflammatory.
- Idaho
Tansy - antiviral, anti-infectious, antibacterial
Suggestions
of how to use it:
- Diffuse
it in your home or office.
- Apply
it to wrists, chest, around navel, and under nose.
- Dilute
1:15 with vegetable oil for body massage oil.
- Put
4-8 drops on a cotton ball and locate on heating vents.
- Use
in Raindrop Therapy
- Use
Vitaflex therapy on the sinus, spine, and lung areas on the bottom
of your feet. (my personal favorite)
Remember,
Young Living Essential Oils are 100% pure, therapeutic grade, organic
essential oils. They have nothing added to them that dilutes
their potency or their purity. They cost a bit more and they're
worth it. They're not only more effective, they last longer because
you don't need to use but a drop or two.
