Pumping Out the Toxins

Your body is bombarded daily with a multitude of toxins from a variety of sources - the air you breathe, the food you eat, and the water you shower or bathe in. These are all sources you can see. But there's an invisible source that causes more damage to your body than any other. Stress.

Luckily for you, there's a built-in cleansing system within your body, designed specifically to get rid of such nasties as toxins caused by stress. It's your lymphatic system.

Your lymph system play a vitally important role in cleaning out your physical system. It works much like the water shed system on our planet.

When the snow pack in the mountains melts, it runs downward, becoming rivulets. These rivulets join with other rivulets to become streams, which join with other streams to become rivers. Sometimes these streams and rivers flow underground. Instead of flowing directly into the oceans, as do the above-ground rivers, they flow into underground lakes called aquifers.

So it is with your body's toxic release systems. Some of the toxins are released "above ground" in the form of sweat. But much of the toxins are released in the lymphatic system, which is like the underground watershed system of our earth.

Toxins from the cells of your body are released into the lymph liquid, which runs just under your skin in rivulets (ducts) which join with others to form streams (vessels) which then empty into small aquifers (nodes). These nodes drain into one large area in your abdominal cavity, where the toxins are released into your lungs and blood for release from your body.

Unlike your blood system, your lymphatic system has no pump. It depends on movements of your body to get it flowing.

In the olden days this was not an issue. Today, however, too many of us work at jobs where we sit in front of computers for most of the day, moving very little. Compound this with this with the stress that has grown to monumental levels in our everyday life and you have a body filled with toxins and a system unable to do its job and rid the body of them.

This causes buildup of toxins in the sub-main aquifers, such as the armpits, knees, and groin. It also increases the workload on organs that clean toxins from your body, such as the liver, kidneys, and spleen.

What can you do to help your body cleanse itself of disease-causing toxins? One simple thing.

Exercise.

Lymph is pumped through the body by muscle contractions. Move the main areas where lymph pools:

  • hips and knees - pump the lymph with walking, Yoga, Tai Chi, squats.
  • armpits - lift weights, swing your arms when you walk, hoe your garden, hang your clothes on a line to dry, knead bread.
  • before you shower, "dry brush" your body from the extremities toward your heart to help move the lymph in your entire body.

Just one more great reason to exercise! Help your body's built-in cleansing system do its job. You'll feel better, have more energy, and will stay healthier.

Love,
Kathy

Essential Oil of the Month

Lavender

During the summer, Lavender is an indispensable oil to have on hand. Because it's the most versatile of all essential oils, no home should be without it.

Lavender is especially effective in reducing pain and irritation due to burns on the skin (think sunburn, fireworks accidents, and burns from cooking over a camp fire).

When my husband returned from his first-ever visit to a dermatologist, he had painful, red spots all over his face and hands where the doctor had burned off pre-cancerous skin. I grabbed the Lavender and told him to apply it to each burned spot. Within minutes the pain was gone... and so was the redness.

NOTE: Do not apply Lavandin to the skin for relief from burns. Many products sold as Lavender oil contain Lavandin instead of true Lavender. One of the components in Lavandin is camphor, which increases the irritation and pain caused by burns and insect bites. Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is the correct oil to use for the purpose of soothing skin irritations.

The medicinal properties of lavender are antiseptic, antifungal, analgesic, relaxant, anti-inflammatory, and anticonvulsant. It also reduces blood fat/cholesterol.

  • Therapeutic-grade lavender is highly regarded for skin health and beauty.
  • It may be used to soothe and cleanse common cuts, bruises, and skin irritations.
  • It has balancing properties that can also boost stamina and energy.
  • Combats excess sebum (oils) on skin.
  • It is a great aid for relaxing and winding down before bedtime.
  • Lavender is an adaptogen, and therefore can assist the body when adapting to stress or imbalances.
  • Lavendar improves concentration and mental acuity.
  • Lavender may also be used to enhance the flavor of foods. Try a drop or two in lemonade or iced tea.

Suggestions of how to use it:

  • Diffuse it in your home or office.
  • Put 2-3 drops to your bath water.
  • Apply it to back of neck, throat, temples, and under nose.
  • Apply directly to insect bites.
  • Use full strength on sunburn or other burnt skin.
  • Put 4-8 drops on a cotton ball and locate on heating vents.

Caution: True lavendar is often extended with hybrid lavender or synthetic linalol and linalyl acetate. Young Living Essential Oils are 100% pure, therapeutic grade, organic essential oils. They have nothing added to them that dilutes their potency or their purity. They cost a bit more and they're worth it. They're not only more effective, they last longer because you don't need to use but a drop or two.

The Power of Coaching with Tarot

Unlock your inner knowledge using the Tarot, an ancient and time honored tool of Higher Wisdom.

The Tarot has been used for centuries by people who desired to gain deeper knowledge about the issues and challenges that were facing them so that they could improve their lives.

Benefits:

  • get faster results
  • discern your best choices more easily
  • acquire more complete knowledge about your challenges
  • open to a wider range of opportunities available to you
  • have more fun in coaching and in life
  • extend your array of choices

How the Tarot works
The scenes on the cards are symbolic representations of the life challenges that you, and all of humankind, face in your journey of experiencing, learning, and evolving ever higher each lifetime. These images bypass the conscious mind where the "Inner Critic" lives, which allows direct access to the subconscious mind, where creativity and choice are available.

How the coaching sessions work
At the beginning of each session we'll discuss the issue on which you'd like coaching with Tarot. Together we'll craft the question - an important part of the process. The better the question, the better the answer.

As the reading progresses, at each card you'll have the opportunity to explore different aspects of the issue - the underlying cause, what your thoughts about it may create, your hopes and fears, the specific challenge, and more.

With the Higher Wisdom obtained from the cards, you'll discover choices that are available to you... choices you may have not recognized previously. With this knowledge, you can more easily discern the most beneficial and appropriate steps of action for you. Your coaching and your life will evolve more rapidly and will have deeper meaning for you. You'll achieve greater results.

The sessions are conducted by phone and are confidential. At your request, the session is recorded on CD and mailed to you.

I currrently have an opening for 3 clients who want to experience the power of coaching with Tarot. If that's you, email me or call me at 253.853.4033 and let's talk.

AstroArchetypes is a new coaching tool which makes it easy and fun to get the information you need to make better choices. It combines three powerful components:

  • the coaching wheel - a tool for identifying your levels of satisfaction in different areas of your life the houses of
  • astrology - an ancient "map" of the twelve most important parts of your life
  • archetypes - the different roles or personas you adopt according to differing situations and the people involved

These components by themselves are extremely effective. Combined, they're amazingly powerful in getting the information needed about any issue, situation, or relationship so you can move through fear and begin making forward progress.
