Your Car Has Feelings Too, Ya Know
True
Story #1: Several years ago some of my coaching pals
and I met for breakfast at a cafe in Portland, OR. As we were all
saying our good-byes out in the parking lot, one of my pals came
up to me with fear in her eyes.
"My
car won't start. Can you help me?" she asked all big-eyed.
Wondering
why she determined that I had suddenly become a car mechanic, I
said, "Sure. Let's take a look."
As
we walked over to her car she told me that when she tried to start
it nothing happened. No sounds. Not even the dreaded clicking that
indicates a dead battery.
"Well,
I'm not surprised this happened," I said to her.
"What
do you mean?"
"Remember
last night when we all met at your house and everyone, including
you, was oohing and ahhing over Lori's cute new car? You let her
park in the prime parking space, right in front of your garage where
your car normally is parked. Your car had to sit out on the street,
like an orphan, as you drooled all over the new car. You really
hurt your car's feelings," I told her.
She
got tears in her eyes and looked sorrowfully at her car.
"You
need to tell it you're sorry and that you love it," I said.
She
went over to her car and, crying, hugged it as best she could by
spreading her arms over the roof, and told it how sorry she was
that she made it feel bad and that she truly loved it. After a couple
of minutes of this, she stood up and looked at me.
"Go
ahead and start it. It'll work now," I told her.
She
put the key in the ignition, turned it, and the car started right
up and ran smoothly. It continued to run well that day and for many
years afterward.

Story #2: When I began my career in real estate, I needed
to drastically whittle down my debt load to a much more manageable
level, congruent with my new, lower income level as a newbie agent.
One of my major monthly payments was for my beautiful Explorer.
But, it had to go.
I
drove to a car lot, bought an inexpensive pick-up truck and went
home with it... and a much lower car payment.
But
I hated that truck. It was a cheap truck with roll-up windows, cloth
bench seat, AM/FM radio, rubber floor mats, and a basic heater.
Every time I got in it, I could feel its low quality. Just looking
at it made me feel degraded.
That
truck cost me more than lowered self esteem. It cost me a lot of
money. It was in the shop having this or that repaired at least
once a month. No amount of money could bring its quality to a higher
level, though.
Finally
I'd had enough. I had my cheap truck fixed one last time, drove
it to a car lot, found a beautiful truck I loved, left the old cheapo
there and drove the new one home. Yes, the payment was a bit more,
but in all I saved a lot more money. My new truck ran fine and served
me well for many years. I paid little or nothing to any mechanics
the entire time I had that truck.
Advice
From the Expert - The Mechanic
At one time a local mechanic was interviewed in our weekly newspaper
about his perspective on repairing cars. He told the story of a
woman who kept bringing him her car to fix because it wouldn't run
right. He'd get in it, drive it around, and it ran perfectly. She'd
get in it and it would start chugging and misfiring.
He
said that cars have feelings, too. If you love a car, it will run
well for you. If you hate it, you'll find yourself spending a lot
of time at your mechanic's shop, waiting for it to be repaired.
A
Happy Ending
My last truck, Fred, was so loved by my husband and I that he seemed
to be one of the family. The love we gave him was rewarded with
less than minimal mechanic's bills. He ran fine and never seemed
to need to go to the mechanic. He didn't need his spark plugs changed
until he had over 100,000 miles! When he finally got old and began
to show his age by needing some major mechanical work at 198,000
miles, we had to make the difficult decision to sell him. I cried
a lot each time I thought of selling him, but finally we traded
him in on a newer, very classy truck which I'm now loving.
Annette
Noontil wrote a book entitled The Body is the Barometer of the
Soul about the thoughts and feelings you have, and where they're
stored in your body and the diseases they can cause. She also included
a section on how your car responds to your thoughts and emotions,
and what some of the most common breakdowns mean.
Your
car has feelings, too. What is your car telling you?
Love,
Kathy

Book
o' the Month
Books
have always been an important part of my life. Because
I love books so much, I want to share with you those that especially
excite me. This month's selection isn't a book...
The
Motherpeace Tarot
by Vicki Noble and Karen Vogel
When
I had my first Tarot reading back in 1988, this was the deck the
reader used. I cried throughout the entire reading because the message
she shared throught the Motherpeace Tarot was so profound, so charged
with love.
A
few years later, when I decided I wanted to learn about the magic
of Tarot, the Motherpeace deck was the one I chose to purchase and
use. Although I now have a collection of somewhere around 75 Tarot
decks, the Motherpeace remains my all-time favorite.
What
sets this deck apart from the hundreds of other Tarot decks are
two things:
- The
cards are round. This means that instead of only two positions
for each card - upright or reversed - you have degrees of positions.
For each card in a reading, this offers a much more refined interpretation
with more accurate and meaningful information for you and/or your
client.
- They're
all about feminine energy. The majority of Tarot decks are
based on the Rider Waite deck, which has a most decidedly male
energy. We're now coming into a time of balancing the male and
female energies on the planet - both within ourselves and with
others. The Motherpeace deck offers the perspective of the Divine
Feminine to help us create this balance.
The
meanings of each of the cards, as designed by the author and the
artist, are a much gentler, softer way of perceiving the situations
and issues we face everyday in life. They give a more kind way of
viewing our world. As I use them in a Tarot reading, I'm often reminded
of the other interpretations of traditional Tarot decks. The contrast
always gives me a feeling of comfort and relief as I receive and
share the messages of the Motherpeace cards with my clients.

deck and book from Amazon.com
In
addition to the deck and book package, Vicki Noble partnered with
Jonathan Tenny to create a playbook that takes your journey into
the Motherpeace Tarot even further. They discuss the four main positions
of each card - upright, reversed, left, and right - and the meaning
of each position. Plus they connect the Motherpeace cards with astrology
for even deeper interpretations.
The
playbook is a HUGE 8 1/2" x 11" and is spiral bound so
you can lay it flat as you use it. Although it's no longer published,
it is available used from Amazon.com.

Essential
Oil of the Month
Clary
Sage
When
you experience stress - traumatic or chronic - it causes your body
to diminish the quanity of hormones it produces. This creates depression.
When
you feel emotional deprivation, your cells go into reverse spin,
which transcribes the negative feelings on the DNA template. Clary
Sage has such a high frequeency it can stop the reverse spin and
repair the breakdown of the telemere on the DNA strands.
Recent
medical data indicates that Clary Sage naturally raises estrogen
and progesterone levels.
The
fragrance is sweet and spicy, bringing to mind the fresh air of
the high desert. The aromatic influence enhances one's ability to
dream. It's very calming and stress-relieving.
It's
medical properties are anticoagulant, antioxidant, antidiabetic,
antifungal, antispasmodic, relaxant, cholesterol-reducing, antitumoral,
anesthetic.
Suggestions
of how to use it:
- Apply
to your chest, forehead, nape of neck, behind the ears, along
the spine, and on the bottom of the feet
- Add
2-4 drops to hot bathwater, lie back, and inhale the aromatic
steam vapors
- Deeply
inhale the aroma directly from the bottle.
- Diffuse
(I use a misting fountain and the whole house smells delicious)
- Use
on Vitaflex points
- Dilute
1:15 with organic vegetable oil and use for massage
- Rub
6 - 8 drops on the lower back to relieve PMS
To
obtain the fullest aromatic benefits of this oil, after
applying it rub the palms of your hands together briskly to warm
the oil on them. Then cup them and place them over your nose. Take
three deep breaths This brings the minute oil particles deep into
your nasal passages, where their energy imprint is picked up by
the Olfactory nerve and taken to the Amygdala gland - the control
center of all your emotions and the release of all hormones.
Young
